51-579 The Teacher as Critical Transformative Leader

This course focuses on the role of the teacher as a critical, knowledgeable and transformative leader who advocates for social justice in the classroom, school and community.  The candidate is introduced to the responsibilities of a teacher leader, especially mentoring and coaching.  The role of the teacher leader will be addressed related to student achievement, school improvement, data analysis and data driven decision-making.  Developing the ability to lead teams in goal setting and achieving results will be addressed as well as leadership frameworks and models of shared governance.
