The English Studies Department offers a concentration in Literature and Language that prepares the student for graduate studies in English and for other graduate degrees and for professional work in related disciplines that require enhanced verbal and analytical skills, such as law, library science, management, public relations, and humanities administration or research.
The English Studies Department offers a concentration general writing, where students may focus on creative writing, professional writing, or general writing. English majors with a Writing concentration may not minor in Literature and Language.

In consultation with their advisors in the Department of English, majors must submit an ePortfolio of writing for review. The ePortfolio represents assignments and projects completed in courses. Students should register for ENGL 38000 ePortfolio Seminar and complete the ePortfolio in their final semester (i.e., the semester in which they plan to graduate).
