Field-Based Elementary Certification Program M.A.

This is a field-based program leading to elementary certification and a Master of Arts degree. Candidates spend the entire school year in a partnership school working with a mentor teacher.

Prerequisites

  • Successful completion of the Illinois Basic Skills Test
  • Initial interview with University representative(s)
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Enter with a minimum of 2.75 grad point average for Bachelor’s level coursework and maintain a minimum 3.0 during the program
  • Meet all general education requirements
  • Eighteen hours in an endorsement area (See Program Director for list of acceptable areas of endorsement)
  • Substitute certificate
