Aviation Security

Since the dramatic events of September 11, 2001, progress has been made in the area of aviation security. Airports, airlines, related organizations and individual pilots and other personnel have worked with the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Defense and other entities to enhance aviation security while preserving passenger rights and comfort. Aviation security, however, continues to be a national concern.

Lewis University is in a unique position to respond to this challenge. Two of its highly regarded and largest departments are Aviation and Transportation Studies and Justice, Law and Public Safety Studies (JLPSS). This major includes a combination of selected Aviation and JLPSS courses and designated general education courses in American government, hazardous materials, and forensic chemistry.
