The Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations/Advertising prepares skilled, knowledgeable, and ethical communication professionals for 21st century careers.
The Public Relations/Advertising major is an interdisciplinary program for students interested in a career in a variety of strategic communications areas including public relations, advertising, social media management, and media relations. Students take coursework on the theory and practice of public relations and advertising as well as acquire essential skills in communication technology and research. The curriculum includes opportunities to learn the creative production of promotional materials, web design, and event planning.
Students also have the opportunity to work in campus media, to join the National Communication Association Student Club, and to join the Social Media Club as well as to participate in the department internship program. A minor in Public Relations/Advertising is also available.
Majors in Public Relations/Advertising may not double major in another Communication Department major unless they take a separate set of 4 upper-division Communication courses (12 credit hours) in the second major.
