30-232 Fundamentals of Safety and Quality in Patient-Centered Care

This course is designed to introduce the student to the nursing process, basic nursing skills, safety, and the role of the nurse as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Emphasis is placed on physiological and psychosocial factors which contribute to safe patient-centered care. Students develop basic nursing skills through simulation activities followed by experiences in the healthcare setting to provide safe patient-centered care for adult and older adult patients.

Second-semester Sophomore Nursing major status; Nursing 30-202, 30-210, and 30-233 or concurrently; English 06-111 and 06-112; Psychology 26-100 and 26-220; Chemistry 03-105; Biology 02-101, 02-102, 02-103, 02-104, 02-225, and 02-227; Biology 02-270 or concurrently; and consent of the College of Nursing and Health Professions.
